With years of experience in the dance industry behind her, Carmen is Director of Dance Unlimited. She believes the opportunity ‘to learn to dance’ is an amazing gift for children, and within Dance Unlimited the various genres available ensure it is an exciting time to dance! Former students have made the careers within the dance industry in varied roles : dance medicine professionals, dance teachers & studio owners, professional dancers & choreographers to name a few. A priority is also giving the opportunity for enthusiastic new teachers to spread their wings and commence their careers.
Carmen comes from a strong ballet background, is an Examiner for the American Jazz Dance Affiliation (AJDA)
Sinéad Keaskin, MA in Dance Technique Pedagogy (Distinction) MU, London; L.I.S.T.D Modern Theatre & DDE Imperial Ballet, Tap & National Dance; Bsc (hons) Psychology and A.L.A.M.D.A.
Originally trained in Ireland, she continued her professional training in England.
She has danced in Disneyland, Paris, all over Ireland and internationally on Cruise ships. Sinéad has choreographed for many schools, companies and musical societies.
She has taught in many schools in Ireland, becoming principal of both The Kilkenny Academy of Dance and Bray School of Dance, whilst also teaching fulltime dance students in the B.I.F.E, Ireland.
Sinead has worked with Dance Unlimited, Gwenda Britten, Whakarongo school and Puddleducks Montessori since moving here in 2013.
Monique began her dancing career under the tuition of Gwenda Britten in Palmerston North at the age of 8. She trained in both the I.S.T.D. and R.A.D. Ballet Syllabi, and also studied ISTD Modern & Tap.
In 2000 she was chosen for the Junior Associate programme at the N.Z. School of Dance as well as the Accelerated Scholars Programme both held in Wellington. In 2003 Monique auditioned successfully for a placement at one of the world’s most renowned ballet schools and took up her training at Elmhurst Ballet School in the U.K, working with may renowned international tutors, gaining her Trinity College London Diploma in Professional Dance.In 2006, Monique has danced with the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Zurich Junior Company & The National Ballet of Ireland.
Leah is 22 years old and has graduated with a Bachelor of Communications (Majoring in Expressive Arts and Minoring in Communication Management) and a Diploma in Teaching (Secondary).
Leah completed AJDA Advanced 2 (Honors with Distinction), Advanced Solo Seal (Honors), and NZAMD Contemporary 3 (High Honors). She was a recipient of AJDA International Phoenix Dance Workshop Scholarship awarded at AJDA Jazz Congress. In 2013 and 2017 Leah gained experience at full-time dance studios in Sydney.
Leah is a well-versed performer having competed at both regional and national level for a number of years. Leah’s choreography was nominated for Nationals PACANZ in 2018.
She is experienced in various styles and uses her knowledge and experience to mentor exam and competition students.
Stephanie Seymour has been dancing with Dance Unlimited since she was 6 years old. Over these years Steph trained in Jazz and Ballet. In 2015 Steph graduated from Massy University with a Bachelor of Arts, in which she studied Media Studies, Music and English.
Steph gained dance experience dancing at full time dance schools in Sydney including Ettinghausens, ED5, Brent Street and Sydney Dance Company where she gained incredible experience learning from international dance choreographers in many different dance disciplines.
Steph has been involved in several community events as a dancer and choreographer including Amanzi and Evento wearable arts, and The Clefs concerts. She has enjoyed taking her passion of dance into other aspects of her life, including teaching dance in holiday programmes and youth groups. Steph has also been able to teach on behalf of Dance Unlimited at Huntley School and several Manawatu Preschools.
Steph is very privileged to be furthering both her dance training and teaching with Dance Unlimited and hopes to extend her passion and love of dance with her students.
Rebecca has been teaching at Dance Unlimited for 7 years having been a student there since she began dancing. She is trained in many styles but hip hop is her passion. Through her years she has trained at The Company NZ , Whitireia and taken classes at various studios around the world learning from some of the worlds best choreographers (The Palace Dance Studios Auckland, Pineapple Dance Studios London, House of Dance Norway, Ettingshausens,ED5 Sydney) She has had amazing success with her choreography and competition students. Rebecca has worked in schools helping them develop the dance/HipHop skills, & also choreographed and performed for the Warriors rugby league team . Rebecca loves to share her love of dance with her students and pushing them reach for their dreams.
Alecia Viles has been a part of Dance Unlimited for 20 years. During this time she completed Contemporary and Jazz examinations. Alecia was the AJDA, Advanced Solo Seal Top Examination candidate for New Zealand (2010). In 2011 she was nominated by the Manawatu Competitions Society for PACANZ (Contemporary and Jazz soloist). She has choreographed and performed in various musical productions, workshops and events.
Currently Alecia is a Hunterville Primary School Teacher, and also a part time teacher at Dance Unlimited. She has graduated with: Bachelor of Arts from Massey University, a Diploma in Performing Arts and a Diploma in Primary Teaching. During her Dip, PA (Wellington) she attained experience in various dance genres including: Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Ballroom, Tap and acrobatic circus training.
