With years of experience in the dance industry behind her, Carmen is Director of Dance Unlimited. She believes the opportunity to learn to dance is an amazing gift for children, and within Dance Unlimited the various genres available ensure it is an exciting time to dance!  Former students have made careers within the dance industry in varied roles : dance medicine professionals, dance teachers & studio owners, professional dancers & choreographers to name a few. A priority is also giving the opportunity for enthusiastic new teachers to  spread their wings and commence their careers. 

Carmen comes from a strong ballet background, is an Examiner for the American Jazz Dance Affiliation (AJDA)

Monique began her dancing career under the tuition of Gwenda Britten in Palmerston North at the age of 8. She trained in both the I.S.T.D. and R.A.D. Ballet Syllabi, and also studied ISTD Modern & Tap.
In 2000 she was chosen for the Junior Associate programme at the N.Z. School of Dance as well as the Accelerated Scholars Programme both held in Wellington. In 2003 Monique auditioned successfully for a placement at one of the world’s most renowned ballet schools and took up her training at Elmhurst Ballet School in the U.K, working with may renowned international tutors, gaining her Trinity College London Diploma in Professional Dance.In 2006, Monique has danced with the Birmingham Royal Ballet,  Zurich Junior Company & The National Ballet of Ireland. 

Leah Viles

Leah is 22 years old and has graduated with a Bachelor of Communications (Majoring in Expressive Arts and Minoring in Communication Management) and a Diploma in Teaching (Secondary). 

Leah completed AJDA Advanced 2 (Honors with Distinction), Advanced Solo Seal (Honors), and NZAMD Contemporary 3 (High Honors). She was a recipient of AJDA International Phoenix Dance Workshop Scholarship awarded at AJDA Jazz Congress. In 2013 and 2017 Leah gained experience at full-time dance studios in Sydney.


Leah is a well-versed performer having competed at both regional and national level for a number of years. Leah’s choreography was nominated for Nationals PACANZ in 2018. 

She is experienced in various styles and uses her knowledge and experience to mentor exam and competition students. 

Steph Peake

Stephanie Peake has been dancing with Dance Unlimited since she was 6 years old. Over these years Steph trained in Jazz and Ballet. In 2015 Steph graduated from Massy University with a Bachelor of Arts, in which she studied Media Studies, Music and English.

Steph loves teaching Jazz and Ballet at Dance Unlimited and is the head Ready Set Dance teacher.

Steph has enjoyed teaching on behalf of Dance Unlimited at Huntley and, Halcombe Schools and several Manawatu Preschools.

Steph is very privileged to be furthering both her dance training and teaching with Dance Unlimited and hopes to extend her passion and love of dance with her students.

Rebecca has been teaching at Dance Unlimited for  7 years having been a student there since she began dancing. She is trained in many styles but hip hop is her passion.  Through her years she has trained at The Company NZ , Whitireia and taken classes at various studios around the world learning from some of the worlds best choreographers (The Palace Dance Studios Auckland, Pineapple Dance Studios London, House of Dance Norway,  Ettingshausens,ED5 Sydney)  She has had amazing success with her choreography and competition students. Rebecca has worked in schools helping them develop the dance/HipHop skills, & also choreographed and performed for the Warriors rugby league team . Rebecca loves to share her love of dance with her students and pushing them reach for their dreams.

Alecia Viles has been a part of Dance Unlimited for 20 years. During this time she completed Contemporary and Jazz examinations. Alecia was the AJDA, Advanced Solo Seal Top Examination candidate for New Zealand (2010). In 2011 she was nominated by the Manawatu Competitions Society for PACANZ (Contemporary and Jazz soloist). She has choreographed and performed in various musical productions, workshops and events.


Currently Alecia is a Hunterville Primary School Teacher, and also a part time teacher at Dance Unlimited. She has graduated with: Bachelor of Arts from Massey University, a Diploma in Performing Arts and a Diploma in Primary Teaching. During her Dip, PA (Wellington) she attained experience in various dance genres including: Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Ballroom, Tap and acrobatic circus training.

Lisa's passion for dance commenced at the age of six, when she began her dance education with Gwenda Britten Academy Of Dance. As her experience developed she successfully achieved her examination levels in both ISTD and RAD syllabi, and in various styles, including Ballet, Modern and Tap. 


Furthering her dance career, Lisa  danced professionally, at an International level after successfully auditioning for Sydney based cabaret company, Dance Encore Productions, with whom she performed. Lisa was the Dance Captain in contract positions around Japan. She has also entertained in many local Amateur Theatre productions, and even became a magician's assistant for a few years both overseas and locally!  

Lisa’s focus has more recently been on raising her three children and now considers the time is right to return to share her love of dance and further advance her professional dance career.

Justine began dancing with Dance Unlimited at the age of 6, learning Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary throughout the years. Growing up Justine successfully completed various Dance examinations and also in various Competition.  In 2017 Justine travelled with Dance Unlimited to Sydney studying under many well known teachers.


In 2018 Justine began dancing full time at Te Auaha expanding her knowledge of dance with a range of styles such as ballroom and commercial. In 2019 she danced in numerous shows and events in Wellington, and graduated with a Diploma in Performing Arts. Following her graduation Justine continued performing in Wellington, and on her return began teaching at Dance Unlimited where she has found her love for teaching.
